Who Can Lock or Unlock a Project
Admins can lock and unlock projects.
MPO Users have Admin-level permissions and can also lock and unlock projects.
Non‑Admin users (i.e. Sponsors, External Reviewers, Read‑Only users) cannot lock or unlock projects.
Note: Locking applies at the Project revision level. The revision currently being viewed is locked when the action is taken.
What Happens When a Project Is Locked
When a project is locked:
The project becomes read-only for all non‑Admin users.
All actions such as Edit, Submit for Review, and Accept actions are hidden.
All editable fields are locked.
A lock icon is displayed at the top of the project to indicate its locked status.
A confirmation banner appears at the top of the page confirming the project was successfully locked.
When a project is unlocked:
Editing and workflow actions are restored based on the user’s permissions.
The lock icon updates to reflect the unlocked state.
How to Lock a Project (Admin / MPO Users)
Open the project revision you want to lock.
Locate the Lock icon near the top of the project page.
Click the lock icon.
In the confirmation modal, select Confirm.
A success banner appears indicating the project has been locked.
Lock icon is shown in the action bar (near the Accept button)
Clicking the Project Lock icon will show a confirmation modal that must be accepted to lock the project.
How to Unlock a Project (Admin / MPO Users)
Open the locked project revision.
Click the Lock icon (now shown in the locked state).
Confirm the unlock action in the modal.
A success banner appears indicating the project has been unlocked.
The project returns to its editable state based on permissions.

The lock icon and its behavior vary based on user role:

Locked Projects for Non‑Admin Users
For non‑Admin users:
All project fields are displayed as read-only.
Editing controls and workflow buttons are hidden.
Users must contact an Admin or MPO user to request that the project be unlocked.

Does locking affect all revisions of a project?
No. Locking applies to the current project revision being viewed. Other revisions are not automatically locked.
Can a locked project still be viewed?
Yes. Locked projects remain fully viewable by all users with access.
